"Camperdown Cup"

The 2010 South West Series came to an end on Saturday the 18th of September, the Final event being the Camperdown Cup.

The Camperdown cup, an ideal event to wind up the Banks Thargo south West Series, was held in trying conditions, with strong winds and heavy showers throughout the event.
The Camperdown Cycling Club provided competitors with an excellent course, at just over 60km with a challenging up-hill up hill finish.
While most of the bunches combined well, the wind and undulating course took its toll.
At one stage a reasonable sized bunch of around 15 riders formed, second & third limit, this group looked to have things in hand until the king of the mountain sprint where this bunch splintered and lost far too many riders to hold of the back markers.
The scratchmen were able to pick up all the front markers before the final climb, even though they had lost David Tozer with a puncture.
Dylan Hatley was able to reach the finish line first to pick up first and fastest time with Simon Walsh coming over the line in second place.
Darcy Woolley from second scratch showed he is a future scratch rider by picking up 3rd place.

2010 "T.J. Goodall Memorial"

On Sunday the 12th of September 2010 the Hamilton Cycling Club hosted the “T.J. Goodall Memorial”
There were 36 starters for the event; a 64 km loop on circuit with “rolling Hills” and with a strong Northerly wind blowing the race was a challenging event.
The limit bunch with 6 riders had an 18-minute start on scratch and a 7-minute start on second limit.
All of the bunches rode well and mainly held together on the day, 3 limit riders stayed away for two thirds of race distance until second limit picked them up.
The other bunch making large amounts of time at this stage of the event were second scratch, they had picked up the 6.30-minute bunch and looked to have a win in sight.
That wasn’t to be the case with the out markers holding out, with Erich Gstrien taking out line honours just ahead of Brian Hayes and Spek.
Scratch although not catching second scratch rode well enough for David Tozer to pick up fastest time with a ride time of 1hour 34 minutes & 07 seconds.
