SWS after TJ Goodall

Hamilton hosted the TJ Goodall last weekend.
The south west leader board has a few changes at the top of the ladder after this event.
Darcey Woolley still holds first palce and there are two riders on equal second just ten points behind him.
This weekend Sepetember the 17th the final event in the Banks thargo South West series will be held at Camperdown, one of the toughest races with an uphill finish will decide the final placings in the series.
Its great to see Stacey Hocking in tenth place on the ladder lets hope she can hold that position in the final event.

Coleraine And Gorae west

The Coleraine Combine and the Gorae west classic have both been held.
Both events saw the front and middle markers, stay away moving a few regulars up the South West series points table.

Darcey Wooley still holds out with a 20 point advantage over his nearest rivals in Stuart Robinson and Dale Cummings both on 140 points followed closely by Glen Schouller on 137 points then Spek on 136.

So in the last 2 events theoretically Darcy Woolley could be toppled from the top, it would take some bad luck on Darcey's part such as a dnf but stranger things have happened.

I am sure David Herrewyn will be pleased to see himself in the top ten.

Stacey Hocking has toppled Kate Winnen as the female leader in the series.
The last 2 events could see quite a few changes in the top ten.

Max McKenzie Memorial

2011 Max McKenzie Memorial
On July 23rd 2011 the Max McKenzie Memorial was hosted by the Mount Gambier Cycling and Triathlon club.
On a cold and overcast day with light winds 45 riders faced the starter. Two limit riders Rod Lawson and Shannon Malseed getting a 28.5 minute start on scratch.
The handicapper divided the field into eight bunches, Scratch, 3 minutes, 5.5 minutes, 7.5 minutes, 9 minutes, 13 minutes, 15.5 minutes and 28.5 minutes.
Shannon Malseed from Portland had a strong ride leaving Rod Lawson and trying to solo to the finish line for a win. At 10km from the finish this looked to be a possibility however the 7.5 minute bunch had been riding strongly, strongly enough to pick up the next three bunches, then pick up Shannon Malseed about 4km from the finish.
With riders like Mark Wight, Mel & Stu McKinley, Clint Lancaster, Steven Mutch & Dale Cummins forcing the pace scratch was not able to bridge the gap.
Daryl Patzel from Mt Gambier went quite early in a hotly contested sprint but was able to hold on for what seemed an eternity to win the Race closely followed by Andrew Lindsay from Portland the Bruce McLaughlin from Mount Gambier came in for a well earn’t 3rd place.
Not long after the Scratch bunch crossed the line, Darcy Woolley able to just hold out Luke Aggett by a ¼ of a wheel for fastest time. Darcy’s ride time for the 58 km race 1.26.50

Beeac Progress association handicap

Warrnambool rider James Okeefe broke through for one of the biggest wins of his career taking out the Colac Cycling Club's Beeac Progress Association handicap which was part of the Banks Thargo South West Cycling Series.

Colac Riders were well up amongst the finishers with Shannon bell third, newcomer Warwick Bott Fith and Larry Noccera 8th and Heather Hamling 9th.

The Scratch bunch was hampered by a couple of scratchings and some internal squabbling that cruelled their chances.
O'keefe won a bunch sprint at the end of the 65 kilometre race just beating home the evergreen Stuart Robinson from Hamilton with Colac's bell close up third.
