2011 Banks Thargo South West Series begins at warrnambool

A very successful 2 day race weekend was held at Warnambool on the 5th & 6th of March 2011.
Both days had good numbers competeing and the conditions were ideal for good racing.

Day 1 saturday march 5th the Glenn Cook, had 57 riders start the event, the Fourth scratch bunch were the best bunch on the day. they rode well enough to have limit just before the start of the 4th lap of the falls circuit, the 4th scratch picked up the top 3 placings with Geoff Verhoef taking line honours then in 2nd Chriss Carr 3rd Brian Smith.

Luke Aggett from Port Fairy picked up fastest time.

Day 2 Sunday 6th March the Greg Gleeson.

Once again held under ideal conditions, 56 riders started the race.
the Greg Gleeson was a day for the scratch men, as with the previous day scratch rode well but today they were able to pick up all of the field not too far out from the finish.
Luke Aggett the "Form" rider early in the season picked up first and fastest having a very successful weekend, 2nd Glenn Scouller 3rd Matt Lane

The weekend was a well organised and equally well attended weekend of racing.
Congratulations to the Warrnambool Cycling Club and all of the competitors for making making it such a good weekend.
Both events had a high rate of D.N.F's perhaps indication an early season lack of form :-)

  2. Not only D.N.F's proof of early season lack of form :-)
If my calculations are correct if everybody improves at the same rate over the season I should still be approximately where I am on the table!
Still good events and fun having a go. Hope to see you all at Camperdown. This time minus my broken collar bone. lol
